Until Further Notice...

We won't be doing anything much here, for the next 6 weeks or so.  My day job is taking over, and the knitting opportunities are  likely to be sparse.  That doesn't mean that things won't tune up again soon after, but it may take a few weeks.  Meanwhile, some progress does continue on baby Emma's Shawl.  I only have two more sections to knit the border on, and then it will be time to block.

On what was likely to be the last free weekend for awhile, last Saturday and Sunday I attended a wonderful workshop led by Joan Schrouder, a master teacher and expert knitter.  I'm sure her name is no secret to the knitting community.  She teaches at Stitches and in other lucky places, and she has what must be almost an unequaled "Designography".  I'm not sure that's actually a term, but I'll coin it here, if it isn't.

As though the learning weren't enough, Joan brought part of her knitting collection, and it was such a kick to see some of the pieces.  I had hoped she would bring her magnificent Oregon Shawl, and she didn't disappoint me on that.  Neither did the shawl.  It is so impressive.  (Someday...)  She also brought a "Blue Shimmer" (I think) Bohus cardigan that was the specimen sweater in the Bohus book.  It was like going to a knitting museum.

The workshop was held under the auspices of the Austin Knitters and Crocheters Guild, and as always, the Guild officers did a wonderful job of planning and preparing for the workshop.  I try never to miss a Guild workshop.  They are always worth every penny, and very good value, too.

Don't look for much here for awhile.  I'm just working hard, but I'll be back shortly.

Good knitting,
MEM

Howdy MEM,
I hope things are going well and you still intend to come back. We miss you.

When I saw the first photo, I said to myself "Wow! Blue Shimmer!" because I'm a Bohus ho. Cool!

I am going to miss your updates! Trust the job won't be too stressful and you will still take time to do some knitting.
I am knitting the Oregon Shawl, but in heavier yarn. Love it! I know I will be making it more than once!
Take Care!

Even though I am pea green with envy at not going to Joan's workshop, and enjoying all the fun and eye candy, I wish you the best while you are hard at work and I am trying to keep up with my retirement knitting. Sigh...so hard being me. Be back soon.

Wow ... it must be quite an experience to attend such a class! Did Joan knit the lace sweater she was wearing too? That one is gorgeous too!
