I'm trying to decide about the Yarn Fast, this year. I'm not planning on buying a sinful amount of yarn during Lent, anyway, unless you think that anyone with a 40-year Stash shouldn't buy any yarn. Come right down to it, I've given up so much stuff in general, over the past few years, that it's getting hard to find something to sacrifice. That's probably a natural consequence of getting older, not holier.
Here's what I've accomplished on baby Emma's shawl, so far:
The edging is about half done, and it's quite enjoyable to knit. Agnes is a little bored with it, but she's hanging in there. I thought she'd bolt on the mindless garter stitch part, but I distracted her with looking at some more advanced patterns. That always gets her going -- looking forward to another project. Right now, she's beating me up about twisting the cables what she bleats is the "wrong" way. I say I can twist the cables any way I like, but she says they should have leaned into the spray insertion. I say no one will ever noticeexcept us; the recipient won't have a clue. She says that we know better, or should know better. I'm not going to wake up at 3 am to ponder the issue, myself. Agnes can take care of that for me.
I'm looking with less and less favor on the Yarn Fast, this year, but no final decision has yet been made. Maybe I could do a partial Yarn Fast, starting after I purchase that lovely Gurnsey yarn.
Good knitting,
MEM
A yarn fast? Does not bear thinking about. I'm curious- what guernsey yarn did you have in mind? Color, pattern?

Looks like the LYSOH has had some redecoration. Very nice!
If you feel you must do the 'Yarn Fast', I think you should buy the gurnsey yarn first and then fast.
Or for Lent you could knit Inishmore and post your progress!

Baby Emma is one lucky little girl, her shawl is coming along gorgeously :)

Gorgeous. All of your things. Just gorgeous.
A yarn fast for Lent? I've been pondering what to do for Lent, but I think I'd have too many ulterior motives with yarn and food this year. Or maybe that's what it's about.

This year you could give up the Yarn Fast. That lace is coming along very nicely.
I guess Agnes believes being a fiber producer gives her special critical review. Hmph.
LOL
